When I stand in front of the lathe I start envisioning the final thing I want to create. BUT, while I start turning, the vision changes…based on how the wood looks after a few skins off…maybe a mistake with the tool, or just an idea that pops up…so I do not follow a design, I just let my imagination flow and the results come out.
I usually try to give it a sating finish…I buff and polish it carefully to create that effect.
